I own the In-Flight Companion and the Switchback Max 22 Convertible Pack. The Switchback is a very reliable, sturdy and versatile piece of luggage. I have used the Switchback primarily on extended weekend trips. Combined with the Eagle Creek travel system (18 inch folder, pack-it caddy, assorted cubes), I can pack everything I need for a four-day trip. When I combine the Switchback with my In-Flight Companion, I can pack for an entire week. The In-Flight Companion has all kinds of bells and whistles. Best of all, the Switchback and In-Flight Companion are carry-ons that can fit in a jet’s overhead bin. All told, I am extremely satisfied with my high-quality Eagle Creek products.

My Switchback suitcase HAS traveled around the world. I only wish I took pictures of it in each place. I am a flight attendant and it is my luggage of choice. It has been repaired a couple of times. Just recently the plastic frame near the handle was cracked. I am thrilled that it was able to be repaired.

We just returned from a hiking trip in Ecuador and our Switchbacks were perfect for the trip. We had to travel light, and the Switchbacks kept us down to 30 pounds each. On day hikes, we were able to use the day packs to good use. It was also nice not having luggage that looked like all others.

I LOVE this piece of luggage so much that my friends may have thought it was a little unhealthy. But it was so useful! It has wheels (perfect for the long walk between the airport and hostel) AND can be carried as a backpack (perfect for the many stairs in Greece). It's a little bulky when used as a backpack, but maybe it's because I'm small. I've used it for 2 international trips so far and it's held up well.

My husband and I both use this piece of luggage regularly. He is a pilot and finds it great for a stay for a few nights. It rolls well and we really like the fact that you can unzip the backpack and use it alone or together. Only wish we had 1 more.

Absolutely love the Switchback 22. Definitely works for a carry-on with a small zip off day pack. Quality construction for durable use. Easy roller, easy conversion to backpack carry, a pleasure to use.

This bag has taken me all over the US, Canada & Germany. I get comments from fellow passengers at almost every airport during layovers. The bag attracts the attention of other travelers as they often recognize the quality and functionality of this gear. I also use the day pack on short day trips close to home. Without a doubt one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Until recently I worked as a road warrior for Sandals Resorts, traveling throughout the Caribbean; with each trip I am always reminded of a TV commercial with "Don't Leave Home Without IT" the same is true of the Switchback® Max 22. The ease of travel, the amount of room for packing, the versatility and durability does not compare to anything on the market. I will never use anything else!

This bag is the best! I have taken my grandsons (ages 6 and 11) to England and Scotland for a 2 week trip with just this bag and a school backpack for each boy. The trip was great, not having to lug around tons of bags was liberating. I had an easier time keeping up with two active young men.
We also have traveled to Cambodia for a week with just our switchback max 22. Great bag, looks cool, too!

I use my 22" Switchback for business trips, and it’s perfect! It qualifies as carry on so I don't spend time in the check in line, pay additional luggage costs, or risk lost luggage. It’s big enough to carry everything I need for a 4 (or more) day trip, and I don’t have to take my PC backpack.
I pack my laptop, work files, and the rest of my work related stuff in the detachable daypack. I keep the daypack attached when on the shuttle and going thru security at the airport. Once on the plane, I detach it and store it under the seat in front so I have access to my all my work stuff without having to hop up and down to get anything from the main part of my Switchback, stored in the overhead luggage compartment. When leaving the plane, I reattach the daypack, and make my way to the hotel with only one bag to handle. I take the detachable daypack into the office, while the rest of the Switchback remains in the hotel room. I keep everything together so I never leave anything behind. I love it!

This luggage has been to 26 countries and still going strong! Sent in once for free handle repair and came back fully refurbished. WOW>The best feature is the sturdy backpack straps. Really helpful when walking down Seattle's icy streets after a winter storm, jumping off a bonca boat on White Beach in the Philippines, or navigating the Paris subway turnstiles with a cheese sandwich in my hands. It has been abused by countless baggage handles at airports, bus terminals, train stations, ferry piers. The cargo switchback has survived falls from the back of jeepneys, took-tooks, a motorcycle, pedi-cab crash, off the back of an elephant, and into the drink on Bohol Island. It just keeps on keepin on!

I've had my Switchback for about 12 years, and love it. We've travelled at least twice a year, and my Switchback has held up well, despite being dragged through four continents. This little piece of luggage holds everything I need for a month in Costa Rica, a summer in Europe, an archaeology dig in Israel, or a short trip to a family occasion.
It rolls like normal luggage, but then has shoulder straps to turn into a large pack - excellent when your room turns out to be on the top floor of the B&B. But the Switchback also looks urban enough to roll through the streets of Manhattan.
I love it! Best piece of luggage I've ever invested it. AND it always fits on an airplane, so I rarely have to check luggage - another big plus for this bag.

We used the backpack as carry on luggage for our two week trip to Germany and surrounding area. Maxing carry on size was the goal as we made the trip with NO checkin luggage. Having a breakaway day pack just makes it so easy to carry a day's supplies out sightseeing and photographing. The pack is easy to load and comfortable to carry when rolling is not convenient.

I’ve traveled with my 22” switchback for the past 12 years and I couldn’t be happier. As a NYC urbanite my bag is narrow enough to roll through the subway turnstiles and easily plops onto my back so I can hike it up my 4 flights of apartment stairs. When I head out of the city for weekend trips I remove the front pack and my bag fits either under my train seat or above on the luggage rack. In addition I have used my bag as a carry on during domestic flights and I have taken it to Italy for a 12 day vacation. In Italy the switch back was a lifesaver especially in Venice with all the stairs up and down the bridges. The ability to quickly switch between a rolling bag and a backpack is amazing! My wheels have begun to disintegrate from all the use so I’m sending my bag in for a tune up. I hope we are not separated too long.

I used an Eagle Creek bag on a month-long trip around Ireland and the UK last spring and it made traveling a breeze! The sturdy rolling wheels were a lifesaver, even on hilly cobblestone streets in Edinburgh, and it was easy to pack and re-pack at each hostel stop. It was crammed full by the time I headed home, and everything made it back safely, including the Irish whiskey! I borrowed the bag from a friend who had previously used it backpacking around Europe herself for almost a year, and now I am planning to go work in Ireland, and will be looking for an EC bag of my own.

My husband and I have traveled all over the world, to Europe, China and South America. We have had our Switchbacks' for about 10 years. This is the only luggage we take on extended trips...all carry-on. When we got to Europe, my husband's boss said "Let's go get your luggage". We remarked this was it. We were staying a month and had only our Switchbacks and the boss was staying a week and had 3 times what the two of us had! Learn to pack light, learn to pack right, and you'll have everything you need. Over the years, we've lost a buckle and one strap broke, but other than that, it's been great. We haven't used the backpack feature much, but I'm glad to know it's there if we have to. The only change I'd make, is to add a ring or two to clip things like glasses to the outside of the small pack, or even another front pocket above the existing one, but I've been happy with every Eagle Creek product I've ever purchased.

I seriously have no idea how anyone leaves the house without Eagle Creek luggage, and the Switchback 22 is my total go-to. It has been a pillow on the night train from Krakow to Prague and been pampered as though it were a child by hotel staff in Morocco; it has ridden public transit from the mountain busses of Costa Rica to the Manhattan subway and it still looks practically new. Bonus - in a pinch, I can sit comfortably on it (and since I weigh 275, that's serious load bearing). I constantly recommend this and my other EC products to everyone else I know who travels a lot for work and for fun. I balked at the price at first, but then I remembered what it took to deal with even a medium luggage failure disaster and I ponied up with good cheer. Have not regretted a penny.

Wow , from sunny southern California to a snowy/rainy WV , my four year old daughter and I managed a week long visit including a few select stuffed animals and the holiday outfits in a swithback 22 and a latitude navigator. Carry on all the way ! After last years trip and an extended visit at the Atlanta airport due the now normal airline delays I vowed to figure out how to do this carry on and leave us maximum flexibility for doing the next available flight shuffle. Didn't need to this trip but felt liberated by more efficient baggage setup.LOved the part where the skeptical and terse flight attendant eyed my swithback and asked "does that need to be checked"......zzzziiipppppppppp! Voila , "No ,it's a carry on and this(the backpack full of stuffed animals, curious George books, my little ponies and some mighty bites) is her personal item! YES ! The quality is great,I've used a ton of different "bags" and packs in my former life as a ski guide and this one rocks ! Could easily trade out my daughters toys for my toys and blast off for a play date with some blower POW ! Great stuff , Sandy

Wheels? Check.
Backpack straps? Check.
Zip-off Day Pack? Check.
Carry-on Size? Check.
Sized for Pack-It products? Check.
Best wheeled luggage I've ever owned? MEGA-CHECK!
I have had this thing for 5 years and other than a bit of dust and a scrape or two where they should be, its in perfect shape. I've toyed with the idea of sending it back to Eagle Creek for a new one, what with their No Matter What guarantee, but how could I??
Maybe one day it will turn to dust, but until then I will be rolling and hauling this baby everywhere I go. Thanks Eagle Creek!

The best. I travelled with a similar product before made by Swiss and it was not even close to be as easy and fun like this one. I went to Panama and Egypt with the bag..it's perfect. I use a special pillow to sleep, it fit easily in the bag with all the other things I needed. I will now bring this bag everywhere I go. The straps are great, the bag is very comfortable...it's PERFECT!!! I recommended for everyone....oups I forgot: the best feature: the wheels and the day pack...so great in museum, on sidewalks, etc....The best bag ever!

I've had this luggage for about five years now and it still looks new. I've had the luxury of travelling around the world with this bag, and most recently last week I took this bag with me on vacation. My boyfriend was so impressed with the detachable day bag, that I've begun exploring buying him one. While packing to return from vacation, he placed a bet with me that I would be unable to fit everything into my bag, I proved him wrong. This bag my appear small, but it holds enough for a ten day trip to Europe!

I travel for a living, covering all of the Americas (North, South and Central) along with the Caribbean Islands. Most of the place I go are off the beaten path.
Last year I was on the road for about 85 to 90% of the time. When I first started traveling 5 years ago I would just buy cheaper lugage, which would last me 1 or 2 months (if I was lucky). Finally about 2 years ago I finally got smart and purchased my Eagle Creek ORV Super Truck and Switch back. The thing that sold me was the NO MATTER WHAT damage repair policy. After dragging my bags all over Brazil, Argintina, Trinadad, Mexico, Canada and just about every state in the union it was looking like I was never going to need the damage repair policy.
However between South America buses and airlines all over the Americas they finally took managed to damage my Super Trunk (but it took them 19 months v.s. 1 or 2 months).
I contacted Eagle Creek explained what type of bag I had and that it was damaged, they didn't ask how or anything. They just gave me the information need to send the bag in, 1 1/2 weeks later I received a replacement.
Traveling the way I do, I can easily say that my Eagle Creek bags are the best investment I've made in the last 2 years.
THANKS for such a great product!!

I've been using Eagle Creek products for over the last ten years now. Many of my pieces have traveled over 300,000 miles in almost every continent. Through this all, they have survived pretty much every abuse I've put them through and I am always able to easily pick out my luggage from the crowd. If you are considering Eagle Creek for Business or Pleasure, look no further and you will not be disappointed.

For dashing through Denver or Atlanta airports, or driving cross-country to see the new granddaughter, this is the best way to go! Everything fits in the overheard or under the seat, the daypack allows the "essentials" to be easily accessible. Mine has survived longer than any other suitcase I've ever owned!

I absolutely love the luggage. It expands to what I need yet isn't too heavy to lug around. The removable backpack is a blessing too. Holds a lot yet easy to carry. Now I have to buy one for my boyfriend because he saw the benefits of it!

I took a job working in Iraq and my first reaction was to buy Eagle Creek luggage for the intensive travel I would be experiencing. I picked up the Load Warrior as my primary moving unit (taking personal belongings for living overseas). The Switchback was my R&R bag of choice so I always had an option to not check baggage but had something on wheels for long walks at the airport. This luggage has not failed me and looks like new after several trips through Frankfurt, Dubai, Gatwick, and several US airports. However neither bag was working for me when I had to take helicopter rides in the middle of the night for work in outlying areas. The ORV Gear bag was the perfect fit. I needed something I could carry across fields to heli pads (backstraps), was stiff enough to pack semi-organized (dividers are great) but act like a duffle for throwing on top of the passengers laps (no wheels and stiff back), big enough to carry personal needs for several days and needed work gear and laptop, but small enough to put in my lap on the chopper. The abuse it gets: thrown out of choppers, walked on, slept on, swung by any of the numerous holding points, etc. I am thrilled with all of my EC products, but this new addition will probably end up as a favorite. The hardest part will be deciding which bag to use for my 3 week trip to Costa Rica:-)
Thanks Eagle Creek!!

I bought 2 of these bags, one for myself and on for my wife. They were the perfect size to lug around...and fit on a plane when needed. The removal daypack was used everyday to carry our essentials (including camera, passprts, etc) while we bounced around like a typlical tourist on our travels in Africa and London for our recent honeymoon. We debated whether or not to spend the money on "good" luggage or just continue to use the same old stuff we've always used, and I can tell you it was worth every penny. Very glad we purchased the Switchbacks. We'll use it everywhere we go now. The lifetime warranty was also a key selling feature.

I had my older version of the Switchback 22 (sorry cant even remember what it was called since it has been so long ) for over 10 years. As a business traveler I traveled every week and it stood by me without any problems, no zipper problems not even wheel problems.
Unfortunately the airline played "drag the bag through the tarmac" with my suitcase and after 11 years of faithful service I have to retire it (although after that trauma the major damage is a hole). With a heavy heart I am letting go and looking forward to my new Eagle Creek Suitcase. (Although I may still send the old one to see if it can be repaired...it is that good). If you want a good quality long lasting product look no further.

Hello, we've just arrived home in the UK after a year circumnavigating the globe with our three small children. I wanted to write and say that we have tried and tested 2 of your Switchback ES Max and an ORV trunk through 29 countries, 5 continents and 60,000 miles (try that with a 4 year old!) They are fantastic, we would recommend them to anyone - and frequently do. Check out the great picture of us and our gear on Moscow train station, which made it into today's Times newspaper in the UK (along with most other UK newspapers). Keep up the good work Eagle Creek.
All the best

I was stuck. I was alone, save our toddler, and stuck with a car seat, two carry on's, two checked bags, a stroller, and in a foreign airport. Okay, so it wasn't really 'foreign', it was just Salt Lake City, but it was certainly foreign to me and I could NOT get the (so-called) Smarte Cart our of the rack. There was no way I could possibly get all this stuff from baggage claim to the taxi stand in one trip. I would have to shuttle it all, leaving, at some point, some pieces of luggage unattended. Then I remembered my Switchback's backpack straps. I quickly whipped 'em out, donned the Switchback like a backpack, loaded up the stroller with our toddler, loaded up the other rolling bag with the carry-on's and was able to move out to the taxi stand - ferrying it all in one trip. If it hadn't been for the versatile Switchback, I could have been hosed. I've now taken this bag to Brazil, Iceland, Maine, and on numerous family trips. It's so versatile and dependable that I've been able to use the backpack for day hikes, not worried about checking glass and other delicate gifts when packed in the hard-sided main compartment, and even used it for the toughest duty of them all: organizing diapers, wipes, toys, outfits, night-night books, and more for our toddler. Overall, a superior bag, whether you're headed to Iceland or just stuck in the Salt Lake City airport.

I am an Eagle Creek person, period! One day a week is dedicated to urban adventure in San Diego. I ride the Coaster to the downtown area, hop on a trolley to Mexico, take a ferry to Coronado, a bus to Balboa Park...etc...I explore..... I am literally on my feet all day, hours at a time. I experimented with many packs before choosing the "Boundary." The weight rests on my hips, and my shoulders do not ache, either that day or the days after. My back is ventilated all day resulting in my comfort. I own 3 Boundaries, and fill them with cubes of various sizes.
Looped through the belt of my pack is an Eagle Creek wallet. I keep a credit card, cash, and train tickets in front, for ease and accessibility. This system of "wallet in the front," at waist level, allows me to keep the pack on all day.
I am a female baby boomer in my late fifties. With this system, I don't come home crippled after each trip. It is in fact, this system, that allows me to be as active as I am on a continuing basis.
During the rest of the week, I load my laptop and camera equipment, plus padded cubes with MP3 and tape recorder, into my Switchback 22. I wheel it discretely, into restaurants in North San Diego County, and do my work from this system, drinking tea, gazing at the ocean, watching pelicans soaring overhead, having all of my equipment at my fingertips.
If I need to photograph something, I load my camera gear into my Eagle Creek Camera bag, and head outdoors.
Everything is light...and looks good!
I lift all, easily, into my car. We boomers at middle age, love and appreciate your products.
I carry something of Eagle Creek with me at all times. Even my purse is organized with cubes. And for serious adventure, well, I have the women's Explorer.
I value your products, have seriously tested them on myself, and I am touched by your integrity to your customers.
Lastly, I grew up in New York, (the city), and am part of a manufactoring/designing family. I have had access to a wealth of products since childhood, a universe of products. I have chosen Eagle Creek for myself, and this is the best endorsement that I can offer you. Thank you for positively affecting my life..

I love the Switchback Max ES22! I've taken over 6 trips with it and have found it durable, convenient, and lightweight. I've also learned to pack better as a result. I'm a Buddhist priest--the Pack It Folder works perfectly to keep my robes neat and well protected. Between the Switchback and packing solutions items, I've become a lean, mean, traveler. I also use the guide bag 24-7 now, there's no substitute for the roominess and ease of use! Thanks for making my life easier!
