I took this luggage to Guatemala this past month. Great piece of luggage to carry through the cobblestone streets and unpaved roads. The pack did not topple over nor get destroyed in rainy weather! There is a plus about this pack too: not destroyed during the travel in the airport from flight to flight transfers!!

I've lugged my bags all the way around the world...a few times! My job takes me to some remote places and my luggage spends plenty of time bouncing around in all types of vehicles from helicopters to horse carts. So far, it has not let me down. My gear stays dry and the luggage is durable. This is impressive given baggage handlers have 200-250 opportunities a year to break it. Other brands generally last a year. My Eagle Creek luggage has survived 2 years and it is still in good shape.

My family (wife, self and three kids 12, 10 & 8) traveled around the world for a year and a day. We visited 25 countries on five continents. We each took a backpack and one Eagle Creek Tarmac rollaround, sizes from 20" for our 8-year-old to the 25" for me. We traveled by trains, planes, autos, ferries, across European cobblestones and down Indian alleyways. Nothing broke or needed replacement. Five Hemphills. A year and a day. Five continents, twenty-five countries. One set of luggage.

Purchased new Eagle Creek and another piece of luggage costing more and also one of the top related for a two week to China. Upon return (8 airport changes, one cruise ship)
the other piece of luggage had to be replaced by the manufacturer because of "wear and tear" and still under warranty. The Eagle Creek still looked brand new.

I now ONLY use Eagle Creek-it's fantastic! There are many great bags out there, but what puts Eagle Creek at the top of my list is the high quality AND especially the outstanding Customer Service! A bag is only as good as the guarantee. When they say lifetime guarantee, they mean it! I had a small problem with a zipper. Since that bag was no longer produced, they offered me a choice to upgrade to a nicer bag, were friendly and helpful all the way. I had the new bag in days. I liked it so much, I bought more! These bags have trooped all over the world with me and always perform great! Now my friends are buying them too. Thanks Eagle Creek for being the best!

I have lugged my Tarmac luggage around the world seven times since 2004 and number trips back and forth from London to Atlanta. My luggage never gives up and has never disappointed me. She remains my constant companion on these long trips, and I cannot do without her. Thank you, Eagle Creek, for producting such a super, dependable, well-built, attractive and long-wearing luggage.

After reading all the other reviews about this bag, I was very excited to get mine. I travel almost every week and thought this bag would stand up to the heavy use. I plunked down my $300 in September and now only 5 months later have sole plates shredding, a zipper pull missing and the zipper just about ready to give way in two places. Needless to say I'm not impressed. I've had $50 bags that I picked up at Ross/TJMAXX/Marshalls perform as well or better over a 5 month period. If I send my bag in for repair, I'll have to go purchase another one to use for 2.5 weeks... Not convenient for someone who travels for work. Also the box, the cost of shipping, the time to take it to the post office and ship. I think this was a failed experiment on my part.

I really love this bag.I have been a roadwarrior for the last 25 years.I have bought all kind of bags. From Delsey to Tumi. The 28 Tarmac is by far and away the best I have used.I am out on a trip for up to three weeks sometimes. All the pockets are a great feature.I bought the large folder and two cubes and a toiletry kit.I have never been so organized. The folder is great for my dress clothes. Also the shoe holder is a nice touch.I use it for 4 pairs of work jeans. The jeans would take up most of my room for packing with the other brands.I am sold on Eagle Creek.I am now going to buy Eagle Creek for the rest of the family.

Choosing a new bag or piece of luggage is a serious thing. This is a relationship, for better, or worse. You and your new bag are stuck with each other till the trip ends. Bags have the same status as gadgets in my world and a purchase decision does not come without some thought and exploration. A new piece of luggage, that I will live out of for months on end, is not an impulse buy. Computer and camera bags for me are more impulsive buys which is probably why I am still in search of that perfect computer, camera bag. However, I do think I have found the perfect piece of luggage. The Eagle Creek Tarmac 28 is that bag. It has a lot going for it. First off it is big. Big enough that I can fit what I need to carry without over stuffing it. It is expandable and will give you %15 more space if you need it, but in the past 2 years I have rarely needed it. I haven't had to to change my the contents of my pack because bag limitations. It has enough inner and outer pockets to hold my stuff and when combined with a few Pack It Cubes it becomes even more versatile. The retractable handle continues to work. It felt a little loose a few months ago but because it is attached using screws I was able to tighten it up myself. The stitched on bottom bumpers started to fail and I sent it in for repair. I was concerned about how long it would take and if I would have to find another bag until my Tarmac 28 was returned to me, but the repair took less than 2 weeks including shipping. And I didn't have to press the issue. The bag came back repaired with new bumpers now bolted on as opposed to sewn. The repair process was as painless and hassle free as a repair can be. I sent an email, received an rma #, shipped the bag to Eagle Creek and they repaired and returned it to me. It looks clean and well done and should solve the issue.
The exterior has held up well given how much use the bag has seen. The color combination makes it easy to spot at airports.
